About Us:

Rescue made by Swiss

The Disaster Intervention Unit, or DIU-Switzerland for short, is an association consisting of volunteer members based in Basel (CH).

The association was founded as an initiative by the patient transport company Ambu-Car from Basel. The company provides patient transport for hospitals, old people's and nursing homes as well as private individuals in the Basel region.

When Ambu-Car saw the shocking images of the flood disaster in Valencia in 2024, the company Ambu-Car organized rapid assistance and sent a group of five emergency workers to Valencia. They supported the emergency services on site or worked independently at the scene, to the complete satisfaction of the local emergency services.

While we were still in Valencia, we decided to found the Disaster Intervention Unit. The association is a group of German/Swiss medical and firefighters who work voluntarily to provide rapid assistance in the event of disasters, both nationally and internationally.

Our association operates on a voluntary basis and is financed entirely through donations.

In the event of natural disasters such as earthquakes, floods or other major events, we provide assistance as quickly and easily as possible, to the best of our ability.
